Note From The Editor
Hate crimes against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community have been on the rise since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic last year. Alarming cases of racially-motivated elderly abuse, public shaming and murder have been reported across major U.S. cities, with no sign of coming to an end any time soon. Racist rhetoric used by former President Trump to describe the coronavirus–including terms like “Chinese virus” and “Kung flu,” incited violence against Asians and keeps fueling discrimination even after he left office.
The team of Mi Voz Media stands in solidarity with the AAPI community and will continue to uplift and support members of this community through our editorial platform. If you want more information about the topic, check out Stop AAPI Hate, a research center tracking hate crimes and advocating to end structural racism affecting all communities of color.
